My Woman

Last night…
I was ready to put the razor to my wrist again.
Then you said you are coming over. And invited yourself to a sleepover at my place.
I didn’t know it then. But I now realised that you knew all along that I was depressed last night.
And that I needed a friend. To just be there.
You watched Saw alone in the living room while I sulked in my room. I heard your screams when he was sawing his feet off.
I laughed out loud at your silliness. Oh, how you saved my night.

We talked till the sun streamed through the windows. With cigarettes between our fingers and lazy smiles on our faces.
Reminisced about first loves. Pondered about present ones. Scoffed at hypocrites. Laughed at old jokes. Awed with our mothers.
It is now nearly 8 in the morning. My eyes are tired. My body is weak. My mind is weary.
But my wrists are without any scar.
